CLAY'S STORY...
Clay Alexander is no different than a lot of youngsters in this country. He wants to grow up to be just like his
father. And if he achieves that, then things will turn out just fine for the Tennessee-native.
Clay’s father Mike was an all-star racer in his own right. Mike is widely known as on of the best short track
racers of all time. He was a former NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion and a regular front
runner in the All American 400 and Snowball Derby. But Mike was also a long-time competitor in the NASCAR
Winston Cup and Busch Series, where he earned two-career Busch Series wins.
So if Clay’s career takes a path remotely similar to his fathers, then it will be a major success.
Clay got his start in racing in the Mini-Cup Division at Twin Fountains in Shelbyville, TN at 11 years old. He
traveled around Tennessee racing and, by 2003, Clay won the Tennessee State Championship for Mini-Cups.
From 2004 to 2007, Clay made the logical step to the Legends Semi-Pro division, where he won several races over the years and became a constant front runner.
Than, Clay figured to start following in his father’s footsteps by moving to Late Models. He started running a few Late Model races in the beginning of 2007, running at tracks like Huntsville Speedway, Peach State Speedway, Watermelon Capital Speedway, Anderson Motor Speedway and Five Flags Speedway
After running the same type schedule in 2008, Clay embarked on a huge schedule in 2009, running as much as possible in several touring series, including the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, Viper Series, Ken-Ten Late Model and various others.
